Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I write about life as an expat mother in Lisbon, Portugal.  Happy reading!

I’ve let two months lapse since my last post, which was also after a 6-week delay from the previous post. I am so consistent in many aspects of my life, so I do ask myself why I don’t write more consistently. I chalk it up to finite energy in a 24-hour period. Being consistent with two little kids, keeping to a schedule of riding and yoga (since I also love schedules so much), cooking meals consistently, being up early consistently, attempting consistent communication with my family (usually not with huge success), and all the other little consistencies in my life leave me with little motivation or space for adding another. Coffee. I’m wonderfully consistent with morning coffee. (And afternoon coffee…)

Still, when I sit down to write, I would rather be doing nothing else. And so I’d like to share a few of the pics I’ve taken around Lisbon. With each season (and new, trendy coffee shop), I fall in love with this city even more. To top if off, we finally tried an American-style burger joint that’s been recommended by several friends. Besides having the most incredible veggie burger I’ve ever eaten, their view looks out at a modern art museum and a castle. As neighbors. I used to find the randomness of such pairings slightly jarring: so much mis-matching, neatly-trimmed gardens next to overgrown lawns, ancient tiles and graffiti. So little consistency. But as I’ve learned to lean in and appreciate the many juxtapositions around Lisbon, I hope I continue to cut myself a little slack as I navigate my own inconsistencies.
